++++++i didn't know how i'd do without mr. byrne's month of july, right in the middle of listening to the 'standards' one last time the tunes switched to august.
it's fantastic, i'm not sad at all and if anything the more upbeat sounds are timely.++++++
it is all too lovely ...
Radio DavidByrne.com
this month is 'standards'
'A standard is something that we use to measure other things. It is the Ur thing, the original hidden Platonic thing that casts the shadows on the cave, which we then perceive as all other things. These songs, most of them written between the last two world wars, are popular songwriting carried to a level of melodic, harmonic and sometimes lyrical sophistication that was rarely superceded.'
mr. byrne and i share affection for the voice of fred astaire amongst others.
(i've never gotten his radio player to work but that doesn't matter anymore since his playlist is on itunes radio > eclectic > radio davidbyrne.com)
I made a playlist on 'radio blog club', looks like one has to host the player themselves in order to place it on blog which i'll consider doing when i have more time. here it is. Enjoy and let me know if it doesn't work well.
